October 30 Update - YouTube recording available here.
Jennifer Wagenius, Washington County (MN) Deputy Administrator, will discuss the redistricting process in Washington County. She will also give an overview of the services provided by the county, the new census data and how it impacts our county, and Washington County 2022 Redistricting Principles. There will be a period for public comment on these Principles soon. (See her presentation slides here.)
Many of the services we think are provided by the city or state are actually provided by the county. In this way, the county is not something very many people are aware of, like an invisible layer of government. In case you missed our earlier public program on the source of funding and other information about the county, you can view it at https://tinyurl.com/wcga-youtube. Look for Redistricting 101 under Videos.
Following the presentation by the county, Paul Huffman, LWV MN Redistricting Coordinator and LWV WCGA Voter Outreach Director, will give a redistricting update from the LWV Minnesota. (See his presentation slides here.)
There will be an opportunity for Q&A after each speaker. This is a public meeting - all are welcome! Register here.
LWV Woodbury, Cottage Grove Area and LWV White Bear Lake Area are co-sponsoring the event. LWV WBLA represents areas in northern Washington County.
Call to Action: Read more about asking your county commissioner to adopt the resolution, Washington County 2022 Redistricting Principles. We expect it to be approved at the next board meeting. See the accompanying Map to determine your County Commissioner. (map)
