Recovering more value from waste continues to progress following the purchase of the Recycling and Energy Center (R&E) by Ramsey and Washington counties. Please join us to hear about the new Food Scraps Recycling Program under development as well as other innovative technologies to manage 450,000 tons/year of waste materials that are currently made into refuse-derived fuel for waste to energy or going to landfill. These technologies range from anaerobic digestion with recovery of renewable energy to breaking down waste into molecular components making new plastics and fuels. In addition, the presentation will cover the collaborative work between Ramsey and Washington counties ranging from innovative recycling and pollution prevention grants offering technical assistance, to strategies in motion to accomplish their waste policy goals.
